インターンシップ
Internship		 A program where students can experience working at a company. They can learn about the company’s work and workplace atmosphere.

Term Meaning
貴社?御社
Kisha / Onsha		 Words used to refer to the company you are talking to.
Use “Onsha” when speaking, and “Kisha” when writing
解禁日
(Kaikinbi)		 The day when companies officially start recruiting.
ガクチカ
(Gakuchika)		 Short for “What you worked hard on as a student.” It means things you did your best in during junior high or high school. This is a common question in job hunting.
価値観
Values		 Your way of thinking about things.

School Recommendation		 A system where companies send job offers to schools, and schools recommend students.

Company		 A business organization that works to make a profit
求人
Job Recruitment		 When a company looks for workers. (The opposite word is “job seeking,” which means a person looks for a job.)

Job Posting		 A document that explains job details and company information.

Type of Job		 The type or category of work.

Certification / Test		 A test to check your ability or skills. If you pass, you can prove your skills.

Designated School Job Posting		 A job offer sent to specific schools by a company.

Reason for Applying		 Explaining why you want to work for that company.
賞与
Bonus		 Extra money paid by a company in addition to your monthly salary.

Job Type		 A specific type of job, such as sales, accounting, or human resources (HR).

New Graduate		 A student who will graduate in March in the current school year.
正規雇用
Full-Time Employment		 Employment without a fixed time limit. It means being a regular full-time employee.

第一／第二／第三次産業
Primary / Secondary / Tertiary Industry		 Primary industry includes agriculture, forestry, and fishing.
Secondary industry includes manufacturing and construction.
Tertiary industry includes business, finance, services, and other jobs that are not in primary or secondary industries.
大企業
Large Company		 A company that has a lot of money and many employees.

Working Conditions		 Salary, holidays, and support given by a company. It also means how employees are treated in a company.

Small and Medium-Sized Company (SME)		 A company with a small number of employees (300 or less).

Aptitude Test / SPI		 A test required by companies for hiring. It checks your personality and academic ability.

Job Offer		 When you pass the company’s selection process and you can join the company, if you agree.

Annual Income		 Total salary you receive in one year. After insurance and taxes, the remaining money is called your “take-home pay,”

倍率
Competition Rate		 How many people apply compared to the number of positions. (Example: 4 times competition in “the company wants 10 people, but 40 people apply”.)
非正規雇用
Non-Regular Employment		 Not full-time or non-regular employment. The working period may be limited, and the salary is often lower than that of full-time employees.

Resume		 A document where you write your name, address, school, qualifications, and other personal information.

Working Conditions		 The agreed details of a job, such as the work period, workplace, working hours, number of holidays, and salary. These are promises between the company and the worker.

①What is a public servant?

A public servant is a person who works for the national government or a local government. There are two types: national public servants and local public servants. As of March 2024, only Japanese citizens can become national public servants. Some local public servant positions can be taken by foreign nationals. The types of local public servant jobs available to foreign nationals are different depending on the region.

②The difference between designated school job postings and public job postings

Designated school job posting
This is a hiring method where a company chooses specific high schools and recruits students only from those schools. Only students from the selected high schools can apply. In these schools, teachers select applicants based on grades and interviews. Students who pass the school’s selection process are recommended to the company. Designated school job postings are often given to high schools that have a strong relationship with the company.

Public job posting
This is a hiring method where a company does not choose specific high schools. Students from any high school can apply. Information about companies offering public job postings is shared nationwide on the Hello Work website called the "High School Graduate Employment Information Web Service." High school teachers can introduce these companies to students. If you talk to your career guidance teacher, you can search for companies that offer public job postings.

③What is a job posting sheet?

It is a document that explains job details such as job duties, salary, and working hours. You can check if the company’s conditions match what you are looking for.
